She was baptized Oct. 14, 1928, and confirmed on April 18, 1943, at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Fairmont. Dorothy received her education attending Fairmont public school and graduated from Fairmont High School with the class of 1947. Following her graduation, Dorothy began working at Stokely Van Camp in Fairmont. On May 11, 1958, Dorothy was united in marriage to Lorvin Henry Laue at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Fairmont. Together, the couple made their home on the family farm in Silver Lake Township and were blessed with two sons, Allen and Gerald.

Dorothy loved life on the farm and took great pride in being a homemaker. She looked forward to visits from friends and was known for her fabulous cooking. Dorothy had a green thumb and enjoyed tending to the many flowers and large garden on the farm.
